are the differences between the JackRabbit and the traditional Roll
A. Both covers retract manually and are flush-mount, weather resistant, padded polymer laminated to rigid aluminum panels. However, the features that set the JackRabbit apart are:
- 100% no-drill advanced mounting system
- Superior scratch resistant finish on aluminum trim
- Built in cargo light for night visibility
- Multiple locking positions (every 12 inches) on long and short bed versions
- Advanced low profile latch-handle system off set to driver side
- Independent latch and lock mechanism with built in pull strap.
Q. Is the JackRabbit cover durable?
A. The JackRabbit cover is made from one solid piece of padded polymer, laminated to ridged, heavy gauged aluminum panels. It is designed to endure both sun and cold year after year without stretching, shrinking, tearing, or cracking. It has the look and feel of real leather and all fasteners are hidden to give you that smooth, flush mounted look.
Q. How much does the JackRabbit cover weigh?
A. On average, the canister portion of the JackRabbit weighs 55 - 75 lbs. and the rails weigh about 11- 50 lbs. This, of course, depends on the size of your truck. Your order will arrive in two separate packages. One for the canister and one for the rails.
Q. Can I stand on the JackRabbit cover?
A. The JackRabbit cover is designed to handle about 150 lbs. of weight equally distributed. Having said that, it will not collapse under snow. We do not recommend you stand on the JackRabbit. If you need the added height to attach or remove a ladder or other cargo from the top of your truck, simply open the cover and stand in the truck bed.
Q. Is the JackRabbit cover water resistant?
A. Water is channeled to the canister and out the drain tubes to protect your truck bed from the rain, etc.
Q. Where does the water drain to?
A. The drain tubes that connect to the canister are designed to channel the water they collect through the factory-provided drain holes in your bed. In the event your truck does not have factory drain holes, you will have to drill an opening in your bed to acommodate the drain tubes.
Q. Is the JackRabbit Cover secure?
A. The JackRabbit comes with a key to allow you to lock it completely once it is closed. Additionally, it has a latch and lock mechanism that works independently from the key so you can open it at your convenience or close it completely without actually locking it. All you have to do is turn the latch and lock mechanism to open it again.
Like the Roll Top, the JackRabbit also locks into the side rails at the tailgate. This prevents someone from removing the cover by taking the rails out. By the way, if your truck is not already equipped with a locking tailgate, we offer the Pop & Lock Tailgate lock and the Powergate tailgate locks to help fully secure your truck bed.
Q. Are installation instructions included with the JackRabbit cover?
A. Yes, your cover will arrive with application specific installation instructions.
Q. How long does it take to install the JackRabbit cover?
A. Most people complete the installation of their JackRabbit cover in about 2 hours.
Q. How do I wire the built-in cargo light?
A. The application specific installation instructions included with every JackRabbit cover this in detail.
you ship to Alaska and Hawaii?
A. Yes, we do ship to both Alaska and Hawaii, however special shipping rates will apply since the order will have to leave the ground to be delivered.
Q. How long will it take for my cover to ship?
A. Your order will normally ship out the same day if you ordered before 2:30 PM EST. However, in some instances, it may take a few additional days depending on sales volume and whether or not the cover purchased is in stock or on back order.
Q. How large is the canister that the JackRabbit retracts into?
A. The Roll Top canister is approximately 10" by 10" and roughly the same in depth.
Tool Box Questions
Q. I already have a toolbox in my truck. Can I still use a JackRabbit?
A. If you have an over the rail style tool box already installed, you probably will be better off getting a custom made Roll Top cover. If you're interested in this print out this form and fax it to (801) 838-3172 or mail it to us at:
Hard Tonneau Covers
P.O. Box 6623
Knoxville, TN 37914
If you would be interested in a Roll Top or JackRabbit toolbox combination, check out the ToolTop by Pace-Edwards.
Q. Is there enough room under the canister to place a tool box?
A. The space in this area is very limited, however it is possible depending on your particular installation.
Bed Liner Questions
Q. My truck has a bedliner. Can I still use a JackRabbit cover?
A. If you have a spray-in style liner, you can still use the JackRabbit as long as the liner does not cover the rails of your bed. Otherwise you may have to file down the over the rail portion of the cover or cut it to accomodate the needed slots for the clamps to install. Plastic liners almost never work properly because the corners are not flush against the bed, but rather rounded. They will have to be modified as well. We highly recommend the Bed Rug truck bed liner as a compliment to your cover.
Q. Can I use a JackRabbit with the bed extender option?
A. If your truck has a bed extender option, you will not be able to use it the way it was intended if you install a JackRabbit. You will have to physically dismount it and flip it around rather than rotate it.
Q. Is the JackRabbit cover spring-loaded? How does it open and close?
The JackRabbit cover has a retractor spring, so you nudge it slightly to open it once it is fully inserted into the canister.
Q. What are the clamps made of?
Q. How many holes do I have to drill in order to install the cover if I buy the drill installation?
A. You will need to drill between 12 and 20 holes to mount your cover depending on the installation.
Q. Can I mount a spoiler to the back of the cover?
A. Doing this will not only void your warranty, but it will make it impossible for the cover to fully retract the way it was intended.

Q. Does the
JackRabbit cover come with a warranty?
A. Yes, all Pace-Edwards covers have a warranty. You can view it here.
Q. Why don't you just tell me the exact instant cash reward amount on your website?
A. We offer cash rewards in the range of $50 to $200 on Pace-Edwards hard tonneau covers. The reason we don't specifically state the amount on our web site is due to the minimum pricing restrictions placed on us by the manufacturer. By placing the cover you're interested in into our shopping cart, you can apply the instant rebate to see the total amount as well as make the purchase if you'd like.
Q. Why is the cash reward only available to me if I purchase online?
A. There are two main reasons why we give our customers the added incentive to purchase online. First, it allows us to cut down on our administratives costs since our employees don't have to answer the phone as much.
Secondly, it ensures order-accuracy when you specify exactly the type of truck you have. This eliminates any miscommunication that could occur when your order is taken by phone.
